On September 30th, twenty-one new MBA students from sixteen countries, along with four returning part-time Year Two MBAs, officially kicked off their academic journey at IUM.
A Week of Introductions and Exploration
The first few days of the Induction Week were filled with presentations introducing IUM, the MBA program, and its distinct features. As the week progressed, students dove into courses, the career development program, and an exploration of Monaco’s unique economy, setting the stage for an enriching academic experience.
Learning from Monaco’s Economic Powerhouses
One of the highlights of the week was the “Learning from Monaco” Conference Series, led by Aymeric Pazzaglia, Founder and CEO of vk*p Business Advisors. The MBA cohort joined his team at The Office for an insightful session, followed by networking opportunities with successful local entrepreneurs, including representatives from Carlo App and Neptune Restaurant. This experience gave students a firsthand look at Monaco’s thriving business landscape.
Mastering Teamwork in a Hybrid World
The following day, Dr. Peter Zashev led workshops on team building and leadership in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Due to the significant shift in how businesses operate today, effectively collaborating in virtual teams has become a highly sought-after skill in the corporate world. As remote work and hybrid models (a mix of in-office and remote work) have become more prevalent, effective teamwork in these settings is crucial for success.
It is also a key focus of the Monaco MBA. Of the twenty-five MBAs in the new intake, ten are full-time and will complete their degree by 2024, while eleven are part-time and are expected to graduate in 2025. Thanks to IUM’s interactive learning platform, part-time students can attend classes either in person or online, ensuring that the entire cohort works together seamlessly, whether residentially or virtually.
Launching the MBA Career Development Program
On Wednesday, students met with Dr. Caroline Frisenberg, an Executive Search Professional and Career Coach for IUM. She introduced the MBA Career Development Program, outlining key goals and milestones.
Throughout the year, Dr. Frisenberg will mentor students, helping them identify their strengths, sharpen their interpersonal skills, understand the recruitment market, and refine their CVs, presentations, and pitches for business ventures.
The MBA Career Development Program is crucial as it plays a pivotal role in shaping the professional futures of MBA students.
Networking with Alumni: Building Connections
To round off the week, the new MBAs, part-time Year Two students, and Monaco MBA alumni from various years gathered for an exciting evening near IUM. This social event allowed students to strengthen their network and gain valuable insights from past graduates.
And We’re Off! Classes Begin
The first week also marked the beginning of classes for the new cohort, with subjects like “Accounting & Financial Analysis,” “OB & Cross-cultural Leadership,” “Organizational Design & Change Management,” “Data, Big Data & Decision Making,” and “Marketing Strategy” setting the tone for a bright and promising year ahead.
With a blend of academic rigor, real-world learning, and strong support systems, the 2024 MBA intake is off to a stellar start!
