Last week, the MSc in Sport Business Management attended the 31st edition of the Sportel Awards.
First and foremost, this event is an international competition that rewards the most outstanding sports footage of the year during a Ceremony open and free to the public.
This year, around this event, two interesting conferences were organized.
Esport Day Event: French League of Legends Final
26 of October marked new history in esports in Europe: it was the first big esports event to be held in Monaco.
The Final pitted ten players, two teams during the most prestigious esport competition in France, the LFL: the French League of Legends.
Throughout the year, the eight best teams in France have been competing against each other on League of Legends, the most played Esport game globally, with only one goal in mind: to become the French Champion.
Ahead of this event was the final of the “TFT Monaco Invitational by Shaunz” tournament, in partnership with the Monaco Esports Federation.
Women’s Football: meet and share with the women who make the world of football evolve
The day after, the SPORTEL Awards brought together four outstanding women working at their own level to promote women’s football, women’s in sports, and their future.
Frédérique Jossinet, the former French judoka, silver medalist at the 2004 Olympics, has embraced the game and is currently Director of women’s football at the French Football Federation since 2014.
Jessica Houara-d’Hommeaux, the former professional player and international defender who played for Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, retired last January. After wearing the French national team jersey 64 times, she completed a career with two Champions Leagues, two French Women’s Champions titles, and two French Cups. She’s now a consultant for Canal+.
Laure Boulleau, the ex-international player of Paris-Saint-Germain, with 65 selections. She’s the second most selected player as the captain of PSG in official competitions, 6 times vice-champion of France with PSG, finalist of the Champions League in 2015, and winner of the French Cup in 2010. She is now a Canal Football Club consultant on Canal + and hosts “L’Instant Laure” on PSG TV.
This event will be hosted by Aurélie Bresson, founding president of “Les Sportives,” the media of reference for women’s sports since 2016, and president of the Alice Milliat Foundation, the first European foundation for women’s sport.
Students had the opportunity to raise questions and discuss current topics on the future of women’s football.
