MBA Group 2023

First Day: the Economic Strengths and Dynamism of the Principality of Monaco

This first day of the five-day MBA Induction Week comprised presentations about the International University of Monaco, specifically about the Monaco MBA Program and its unique differentiation. A highlight of the morning was the presentation by Mr. Guillaume Rose, Director of the Monaco Economic Board, which focused on the history and longstanding economic strengths and dynamism of the Principality. After a relaxing and friendly lunch, the day continued with the “Learning from Monaco” Conference Series delivered by Mr. Aymeric Pazzaglia, Founder and CEO, vk*p Business Advisors, and Mr. Andrew Gallagher, Partner, Moore Global, Monaco, and Moore Stephens LLP, London.

The Importance of Working in Teams

This was followed the next day by workshops and seminars on team building and leadership in face-to-face and virtual environments. The ability to work in teams virtually is not only becoming a highly sought-after skill in the corporate world, but it is also a unique facet of the Monaco MBA. Of the 23 new MBAs, 12 are Full-Time/Residential, completing their degree in 2023, and 11 are Part-Time, completing their degree in 2024. Amongst these Part-Time MBAs, some will be attending classes residentially. In contrast, others will be attending those very same classes online, thanks to IUM’s highly interactive learning management system and platform. As one cohort, all the residential and distant MBAs will work residentially and virtually in teams.

Networking with the Alumni

The week continued with the launch of other core courses, such as Marketing Strategy, Accounting & Financial Statement Analysis, Data and Big Data Analysis, and Economics for Managers. But to ensure that the year gets off to a great start, on Wednesday night, the new MBAs, the returning Part-Time Year Two MBAs, and numerous Monaco MBA alumni from different years all went together for a fun-filled evening near Monaco’s harbor.

The MBA Career Development Program

On Thursday, all the new MBA students met with Dr. Caroline Frisenberg, Executive Search Professional and Career Coach for IUM’s MBA students. She introduced them to the Career Development Program and the different targets and steps.

Throughout the year, she will guide them in assessing their strengths and weaknesses, honing their interpersonal skills, understanding the recruitment market, developing their CV and presentation skills, marketing themselves, and/or pitching their business plan.

Let’s start classes!

The first week is also the time of the first classes of the MBA program with “Economics for Managers,” “Accounting and Financial Analysis,” “Data, Big Data & Decision Making,” and “Marketing Strategy,” a fitting launch to the program for such a bright group!
